Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, found himself on the receiving end of Kenyans' wrath over the weekend after he praised one of President Uhuru Kenyatta's project that sceptics consider a failed one.
In a report by The Star on Sunday, the former premier visited Galana-Kulalu Irrigation scheme, valued at Ksh7 billion and after analysing it, he declared that its development so far was good.
This is despite the fallout between the Nation Irrigation Board and an Israeli company, Green Arava, which left the site in February this year after reportedly pocketing Ksh5.9 billion.
"The project is not a white elephant as per reports which were made public. It is working well. We came here to witness for ourselves. It is something good," Raila declared.
Unimpressed Kenyans did not, however, hesitate in calling out the AU Envoy for allegedly siding with the corrupt and others accusing him of taking other people's roles.
"Raila is the most inconsistent Politician Kenya has ever produced," posted Frank Nzai.
"How can you applaud a failed project? You must be a beneficiary of the loot Odinga, sikuamini tena (I no longer trust you)," added Kubai Murithi.
"Is Baba (Raila) the CS for agriculture or water and irrigation?" Wondered Steve Dika.
Some even pointed out how he criticised other politicians for doing the same.
"I remember them criticizing Ruto for the same project that cost billions and produced a very minimal amount of food products. now they are praising it," argued Sitwa Josiah.
"Our politicians are so selfish. Now he wants to force Kenyans to agree with him. Since he has sorted his mess with Uhuru the project can now be called a success," shared Stephen Gitonga.
"(He) was the biggest critic of the project, termed it 'a white elephant.' After the handshake, he now praises it. The old man has lost it," expressed Nyabiba Assamba.
