KDF Soldier Found Dead in Unclear Circumstances

A Kenya Defence Forces  (KDF) officer was, on Sunday found dead, in a bush at the Hindi area in Lamu County under unclear circumstances.

Citizen TV reports that the soldier was spotted running by the roadside while taking off his attire and boots just a few moments before his death.

Hindi MCA Anab Hajj told the publication that the deceased hung his pants on a tree metres from where his body was found.

The body has reportedly been taken away by fellow KDF officers pending autopsy before it is taken to his home for burial.

This comes barely a month after the body of another soldier was found burnt beyond recognition in Likoni, Mombasa County.

The soldier, identified as Corporal David Githinji was attached to Mtongwe Naval Base in Likoni.

His corpse was found in an abandoned building about 300 metres from Mtongwe Navy barracks, where he was based.

It is reported that days after the killing, the KDF officers descended on the village mercilessly clobbering residents as revenge for their fallen colleague.

Amongst those who bore the brunt for the alleged attack were a Kenya Wildlife Service ranger and 3 policemen.

In 2018, there was an IED attack on soldiers in Likoni that led to the death of 7 soldiers.
