Joho's 'Playboy' Persona Comes Back to Haunt Him [VIDEO]

Leading a lavish lifestyle, oozing suave, sophistication and charisma, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is arguably one of the most flamboyant politicians in the country.

Popularly referred to as the Sultan, Joho has carved out a niche in being stylish and flaunts his opulence in abundance.

The exuberance he displays in public settings is unmistakably a crowd-pleaser and more to that, has him referred to as a ladies man. This 'playboy' persona has played in his favour in national politics.

Well, the flamboyant persona he's built may have led to his remarks being misinterpreted when he welcomed the Embrace team to Mombasa on Saturday.

Joho became the first male governor to welcome the all-female political outfit. and speaking during the event, he expressed his support to the women in a rather ambiguous statement that was left open for interpretation.

"(Mimi ni gavana anayependa wanawake sana) I am that governor who loves women very much," he declared amidst cheers from the women leaders who had attended the event.

He went on to add, "If you are man you would also admire to be part of the women. It is for a worthy cause."

Observant Kenyans online, however, noted that he was simply excited because the women had come to visit.

"Haha I read mischief," one user noted with suggestive undertones.

Another added, "We knew that already!"

Here are more reactions:

The second term governor offered Mombasa City as the team's headquarters adding that all regions should be represented in the top leadership of the country.

“Peace and unity currently being experienced in the country is priceless. But it is the right moment for a candid conversation on representation, especially at the top. In future every Kenyan must feel that he/she is represented in the government,” Joho stated.
