Wendy Waeni's manager, Joe Mwangi, impersonated Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, in a bid to scare the young girl's mum, Magdalene Syombua, and tried to sneak away to London after learning that the police were after him.
The damning allegations were laid against him during the mentioning of his case at the Milimani Law courts on Tuesday, September 3.
Mwangi in the said forged letter which was addressed to Magdalene, spoke of dire consequences if she continued to push for his arrest.
“After Joseph discovered that the matter had been reported to police, he started threatening the complainant with unknown consequences,” the prosecutor, Evelyne Maika, stated
Maika further claimed that the accused had tried to sneak out of the country after he learned of his arrest warrant, which was issued last Friday.
He allegedly switched his mobile phone off, making it difficult for detectives to effectively track his movements.
However, reports claimed that the pressure of living on the run got to him, forcing him to eventually surrender himself to the authorities on Monday.
The lead investigating officer, Isack Tinai, requested for at least seven days to detain the suspect as further investigations were carried out.
Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi ruled that the suspect would be detained for the next five days.
Mwangi's lawyer, Robert Businge, had argued that the police had not provided compelling evidence, to prove that his client was a flight risk.
