ODM Senator's Comment on Mariga Lands Him in Trouble

Narok Senator, Ledama ole Kina, has come under fire after comments he made on Wednesday morning, during a show on Citizen TV.

Ole Kina was talking about Jubilee's candidate for the Kibra parliamentary seat, McDonald Mariga, when he made the contentious comment.

"Mariga should stick to what he does; people love him for playing soccer and politics is a dirty game," he opined.

Kenyans did not take the sentiments with ease, as they went on a rant on the station's Facebook page.

"So politics is an ugly game,  those in it must be devils then," Wenceslaus stated.

"This guy should be reminded that the current president of Liberia is a former professional footballer, he should stop his cheap analysis," Bonface Koech weighed in.

"The problem with these so-called political veterans... They are afraid of seeing young people excelling in politics.

They just perceive themselves as being the only people who possess much wisdom and knowledge about the politics of this country thus should be left to decide on who best fits to fill a given political seat. These old chaps should learn to nurture upcoming politicians not to discourage them," Sos posted.

On Monday, September 2, Mariga bagged a huge win after beating 16 aspirants for the Kibra by-election seat.

He scored 500 points out of the maximum 600, boasting a clean A in the interviews.
