Embattled Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro, on Monday, September 9, 2019, linked his recent woes to his refusal to support ODM leader, Raila Odinga.
The legislator was speaking in public for the first time in Murang'a since his dramatic escape from police officers who had camped outside the Citizen TV studio premises on Sunday night.
"I cannot commit political suicide as the Member of Parliament for Kiharu. There's no way you'll call me and order me to sell Raila in Murang'a by force yet we all know that it can never happen," the legislator announced.
He went on to claim to have been threatened by unknown individuals, who were pushing for him to market the ODM leader in his constituency.
"I cannot be forced to support Raila nor will I push any of his agendas in my constituency via the use of hired guns," Nyoro asserted.
Earlier on, Nyoro's lawyer and Kandara MP, Alice Wahome had made shocking claims regarding a sinister ploy to have the Kiharu MP killed - an agenda that was allegedly brewed in the presence of Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.
Nyoro made national headlines on Sunday, following a prolonged standoff with police officers, who had camped outside the Royal Media Services (RMS) office, where they lay in wait for the MP who was scheduled for an interview on Inooro TV.
It is alleged that the officers wanted Nyoro to clarify an allegation he made against nominated MP Maina Kamanda, whom he claimed had bribed the police in Kiharu on Sunday, September 8.
The two were involved in a public spat at Gitui Catholic church over the weekend.
