Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was on Thursday, September 12, once again, on the receiving end for supposedly equating former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to God.
According to his Instagram post seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the young legislator proved his devotion to the former premier with a post that strongly stated, "Disloyalty to Raila is loyalty to Satan."
The post must have left a bad taste in some netizens' mouths as a few started bashing him, claiming that he was becoming dangerously attached.
"When you become obsessed so much with someone, you tend to forget everything and insanity sets in unknowingly to an extent you even forget your God exists and He is Supreme, God remains to be, Raila is a human being, you're beyond this Mheshimiwa," Facebook user Langat Kenneth reminded him.
Spurred by the negative reactions, the lawmaker was forced to issue an apology and place his words in proper context.
"I have not equated Raila to God The Almighty but I’m sufficiently and ruthlessly loyal to him. God is my creator and in HIM I trust. God is the creator of heaven and earth and the giver of life," he shared.
In a show of appreciation for his clarification, his fans shared their appreciation reminding him that it was important for him to make the difference clear.
"Your memory is now refreshed from your earlier sentiments. Never equate anyone to our living God," shared Andrew Makini.
"Very good say and worship Him alone the creator of the heavens and the earth, the giver of life the way He gave life to Jesus Christ in the womb of mother Mary," added Wahab Muzamil.
Owino considers the former premier as his mentor and has at one point declared that he only believes in Raila and not any other politician.
