Cohen's Mystery Murder Linked to Stalled Luxury Hotel

A luxurious hotel bordering the lush Aberdares forest has been linked to the puzzling murder of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen.

According to reports by the Daily Nation, the estranged wife of the slain tycoon, Sarah Wairimu, was in the process of setting up a fancy getaway hotel in Njigari village, Nyeri county.

Neighbours alleged that Wairimu had bought the piece of land bordering the famous forest five years ago, adding that the couple would make site visits together quite often.

However, they apparently stopped making the visits together, with the late Cohen last seen at the site in April 2019.

During his last visit, he reportedly took photos of the stalled project and asked the neighbours to keep his visit a secret to any strangers who came by after he left.

“The Mzungu (Cohen) used to be friendly and outgoing. He would engage in general talk with us. But in his April tour, he appeared cautious and did not speak much,” one of the neighbours, Solomon Muchiri stated.

On the other hand, Wairimu was last seen at the site in June 2019, while in the company of an unidentified woman.

The neighbours claimed that, prior to her last visit, she had made several other stops at the site in the company of strangers with posh cars.

Detectives are in the process of narrowing down on a list of possible motives behind the puzzling murder of the Dutch entrepreneur, whose remains were found in a septic tank in the compound of their posh home in Kitisuru, Nairobi.

Prior to his baffling disappearance, the couple was entangled in a bitter divorce case which involved a multi-million shilling property as well as an assault case filed by Cohen against his wife.
