As the campaigns for the Kibra by-election heat up, politicians are throwing jabs at each other with a goal of getting the upper hand over their opponents.
Keen on clinching the seat, the ODM brigade was on the ground on Tuesday, September 17, appealing to voters.
As is the norm with politicians, the gloves came off when Embakasi East MP Babu Owino took the podium.
He immediately charged at Deputy President William Ruto launching a scathing attack on the jubilee team.
Stating that the decision by the party to field McDonald Mariga was an underhand play by the DP, Owino faulted Ruto for trying to undercut Raila Odinga in his stronghold.
Hurling unprintables at the DP, Babu Owino declared that Ruto needed to respect Odinga and the ODM party as he once belonged to the outfit.
"The party has built Ruto and it is contemptuous of him to come and challenge us now. He believes that now he is big enough to challenge Raila," he stated.
Babu Owino stated that Mariga's candidacy was a ploy to test the waters in Raila's strongholds in readiness for the 2022 elections.
He further castigated Ruto alleging that he is plunderer of the country's resources, "We can't elect a thief. If we elect him in 2022 we will have nothing."
In a post on his Facebook account on Wednesday, September 18, the Legislator maintained that he had no apologies to issue over his remarks.
"Ruto and Uhuru have abused Raila in the past. I owe no one any apology," he wrote.
