Alfred Keter Forced to Apologize to DP William Ruto

Nandi Hills Member of Parliament (MP) Alfred Keter was on Thursday forced to issue an apology to Deputy President William Ruto over remarks made on Kass FM.

Keter was allegedly cornered by the DP's point men in the Rift Valley region after he stated that he did not believe DP Ruto is fit to ascend to the presidency.

The outspoken MP defended himself stating that he had not explicitly mentioned the DP's name in the remarks he made.

He added that there are a number of politicians eyeing the top seat and he could have as well been referring to any one of them.

Declining to mention by name who he meant with the remarks, Keter added that he would not apologise for condemning corruption.

"I stand by my remarks on my unwavering support for President Uhuru in his fight against corruption. I apologise to anybody who might have felt offended by my statement

"Those criticising leaders from the community seeking elective office are not enemies but leaders with sober minds who correct mistakes from within," he stated.

The MP, whose election was upheld by the Court of Appeal, is quoted to have accused the 2022 presidential candidate of being adversely corrupt.

"All Kenyans have a right to demand better governance and accountability from the Jubilee government and it's leadership.

"The country has suffered a lot because of a few leaders who use their positions to enrich themselves at the expense of the people.

"It's not the people of Nandi Hills only who suffer because of corruption which has affected all public sectors," he stated during the live radio interview.

The MP further asked the Rift Valley region listeners to consider forming alliances with people from other regions to guarantee their chances at the presidency in 2022.

"We should not create enemies. We need other people in this journey," he remarked.
