Flying Squad Bust Eldoret Car Theft Syndicate

Detectives from the flying squad department in the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Thursday, September 19, bust a car theft syndicate in Ndaptabwa Kipsimo, Eldoret.

Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths organised a raid at a car yard in the town and recovered 12 vehicles that they believed were either stolen or registered illegally.

The detectives also arrested one Gideon Kipkoech Kichwen in connection with the vehicles as further investigations continue with the motor vehicles being kept as exhibits.

The vehicles that were recovered included a blue Mercedes Benz KBD365G, a green Toyota Hilux KCA 740J and a white Toyota Premio KCB 499B.

Others were a silver Subaru forester KBY 600V, A Mitsubishi FH lorry KAX 695S, a colona-green Toyota Premio KAY 108U.

The flying squad officers also recovered a KAG 288P tractor, KAT 165S white Mitsubishi Pick up, KAH 929F blue New Holland tractor, KCTB 534J New Holland tractor and a blue New Holland tractor KCTB 773S.

Also on the recovery list was an Isuzu pick up numbered KAJ 995P and a number plate registration number KAM 810L.

The DCI revealed that they had confiscated the vehicles and they would be used as exhibit once the investigations were complete.
