Residents of Muteng'uri Village in Kipipiri, Nyandarua County are reported to be in a state of shock after robbers raided a house and made off with household items and clothes.
Hot 96 FM reported on Monday, September 23, that the brazen robbers went ahead and cleaned out the house unhindered, having distracted the dog guarding one house, with a pot of githeri.
The owner of the house, who was returning from church, was perturbed to find the door opened and the house ransacked.
The guard dog was reportedly sleeping outside the gate as if unaware of what had just happened in the compound.
“Nilikuwa natoka kanisani kama kawaida nikashangaa kupatana na sufuria ya githeri. Hapo nikaona milango yote imefunguliwa. Nikangundua kuna watu walikuja wakapee mbwa githeri wakapata nafasi ya kuingia kwa nyumba na wakachukua manguo yote (I was going home from church and was surprised to see all the doors open. I learned later that thieves had distracted the dog with githeri and carted off all of the clothes)," the woman narrated.
The sorrowful woman lamented that after the theives stole, they dumped the cooking pot in the shamba where she found it long after they had gone.
The residents complained that there had been an increase in the number of thefts in the area, especially when people were away from their homes.
They urged the government to boost security to grant them peace of mind.
