Beatrice Elachi Rebuked After Condemning Mariga's Candidature on Citizen TV

Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi, on Tuesday, September 24, attracted Kenyans' wrath after condemning McDonald Mariga's Kibra Parliamentary candidature.

Appearing on Citizen TV earlier that day, Elachi claimed that Mariga could not properly fill the shoes of the late Kibra MP, Ken Okoth.

The speaker, who is a member of Jubilee Party, explained that the former soccer star just woke up one day and decided that he was going to vie for the seat and that Kenyan politics did not work that way.

Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi who was castigating for claiming

"For anyone going to Kibra, they must set the bar high just like Ken Okoth…Mariga cannot continue Okoth’s legacy.

"I am sorry to say that..this is why I feel sad. When I wanted to vie in Dagoretti North, I did not just wake up and go there to vie," chastised Elachi.

"I went there two years before the election and that is what leaders must do. Understand the magnitude of what you are going into and how the people of Nairobi live," she further added.

Unimpressed Kenyans, however, turned tables on her claiming that she had made less achievements in her own career to be attacking another candidate.

"He doesn't have to fit in his shoe. He can make his own. You were also not able to make your shoe while you were the speaker of Nairobi. Stop hating. I wonder if you were the National Assembly speaker what would have happened by now," argued Denis Njoroge.

"Until her ouster...what had she done as a speaker? Despite the nomination in 2013 and later installation as a speaker... Before you question what other people have done, ask yourself what have you done in your own capacity?" Expressed Joseph Lusweti.
