Sonko Shocked After DCI Exposes 5 Impersonators

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Thursday, September 26, was utterly surprised after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) exposed five conmen.

This was after the DCI took to it's Facebook account to exposes 5 people who impersonated the DCI boss, George Kinoti.

Sonko was taken aback by this bold move especially since he said he had been a victim of the same, with conmen stealing millions from Nairobi residents in his name.

"Seriously these Conmen have no shame, they are now impersonating the Kinoti. So where will I report those impersonating me? Because they open these fake accounts on a daily basis," posted Sonko.

The DCI warned social media users that Kinoti did not have any social media accounts going by his name, thus declaring any such existing accounts fake.

"Please be informed that the DCI George Maingi Kinoti, CBS, currently does not have any Facebook or Twitter Accounts by his name. There are individuals Impersonating him and running such fake accounts. Kindly ignore any communication originating and/or appearing on those accounts," the posted.

The sleuths further made it clear that all Social Media communication involving the DCI is only posted through our official accounts; @DCI_Kenya (twitter) and on facebook, (Directorate of Criminal Investigations - DCI).

A team of detectives was already narrowing down on the perpetrators impersonating senior government officers mainly for purposes of obtaining money from unsuspecting citizens.

This comes after DCI impounded six motor vehicles confirmed to have been stolen from their countries of origin and smuggled into the country for Tax Evasion.

The vehicles, three Mercedes-Benzes, and three Range Rovers were confirmed to have been stolen from their countries of origin/smuggled into the country for Tax Evasion.

Further investigations by Interpol also established that one of the Mercedes Benzes was robbed from Tshegofasto Mabyane in South Africa while one of the Range Rovers was reported stolen in the UK.

The two vehicles are to be handed over to Interpol for further processing.

Three of the vehicles were also found to have evaded tax as they were processed as semi-trailers while one Range Rover had been registered as a Toyota Probox.

The motor vehicles will be handed over to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

The perpetrators are set to be charged accordingly.
