Matiang'i Takes Action After Man Was Murdered Near Uhuru's Home

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Thursday, September 26, took action after a man was brutally murdered near President Uhuru's ancestral home.

While in Gatundu South, the CS met the leaders and top security chiefs in the area where he assured them of enhanced security.

"We have accessed the situation and we have deployed measures to fix the issues we've noted. We are reorganising our security and national government administration in Kiambu with immediate effect," he stated.

He further informed them that he had met with the Central regional commissioner to address staffing gaps in the area.

"We shall advertise for the position of chiefs and assistant chiefs for recruitment and those who have already been interviewed, we shall hasten the process to ensure the residents are getting the services they need," he assured.

Matiang'i noted that, upon his visit, he had been confronted at Mutomo market by a parent whose child had been raped by a criminal gang that had been terrorising the residents.

He sought forgiveness from the residents for the lapse in security that had caused mayhem in the area assuring that the situation would be remedied with the measures taken.

"I have had talks with the Inspector General of Police and to the criminal gangs, I say we shall be hard on them," he declared.

Earlier in September, Joseph Kagwa, a boda boda rider was attacked by thugs in his house with his wife in Ichaweri Village.

The gang broke into their house using sledgehammers and later shot him at close range. His wife, Mary Mutindi Kagwa, was also not spared as she was shot in the leg.
