Senate's Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, on Saturday, September 28, went head to head over McDonald Mariga's development work in Nairobi.
Taking to social media, Murkomen blasted Passaris, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and other leaders for turning the other way after witnessing the former footballer's development before he sought the Kibra electoral seat.
The senator further claimed that the leaders had joined Deputy President William Ruto in 2018 to witness Mariga as he gave back to the society.
"A year ago Sakaja Johnson (Nairobi senator), Babu Owino, Esther Passaris, Beatrice Elachi (Nairobi County Speaker) and I joined William Ruto in cheering McDonald Mariga as he gave back to the youth in all of Nairobi including Kibra. We are his first-hand witnesses. We pray for his success," posted Murkomen.
Known for not taking anything lightly, Passaris responded to Murkomen accusing him of using Mariga to settle scores with other leaders.
She further maintained that, even though she attended the event in question, she still supports Imran Okoth's candidature.
"This was a year ago and I will still cheer Mariga on when he comes out to support and nurture football talent in our country. But when it comes to Kibra politics, I stand with Imran. Don't misuse Mariga to settle political scores," responded Passaris.
Several leaders have, in the past, had a squabble over Mariga's Kibra candidature including the DP and former Nairobi Woman Rep Rachel Shebesh.
Shebesh, on Friday, September 27, alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta was coerced to endorse the Kibra Jubilee parliamentary candidate McDonald Mariga.
The DP, however, urged all Jubilee supporters to ignore calls by those he deemed not fit to speak for the party leadership.
"All Jubilee party supporters should ignore and treat with utter contempt rebels and those rejected by the electorate who now deceptively purport to speak for the party leadership.
"Let's give Mariga our flag bearer moral, material and prayerful support. Victory is surely beckoning," he stated.
