Two female MPs ganged up against Jubilee’s Kibra nominee McDonald Mariga as the war against the ex-footballer wages on.
On Tuesday, October 1, Homabay Women Representative, Gladys Wanga, and her Kiambu counterpart, Gathoni Wamuchomba, went on a rant on Citizen TV over Mariga and the controversies around his nomination.
The two women leaders belonging to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Jubilee respectively, dimmed Mariga unfit to participate in Kenyan elections.
“What makes me uncomfortable with Mariga's interest in Kibra parliamentary seat is that he has never felt the need to vote for leaders in Kenya and he now wants people to vote for him,” Wanga tore into Mariga, poking holes into his civic duty.
Wamuchomba, Kiambu’s woman representative, on the other hand lashed out at Deputy President William Ruto’s man, questioning his status as a Kenyan.
“Mariga is a foreigner. He is in and out of the country. Let him show us at least one thing he has done for Kibra people,” Wamuchomba argued.
Mariga who has been under constant attacks from both Jubilee and ODM received a major boost on Sunday, September 29, when the DP stated that he will ensure the former betting advertiser scoops the Kibra seat by a landslide.
Ruto unveiled his master plan in winning the Kibra by-election.
Speaking at Kapseret Constituency in Uasin Gishu County, the DP said he would be on the frontline in Kibra campaigns that would see Jubilee pitch camp in Kibra.
“I was shocked when an individual lay claim that Kibra is their political bedroom and the region did not even have toilets and locals are grappling with dire sanitation challenges. It is the Jubilee government that built roads and public toilets in Kibra,” he mocked.
