ANC candidate for the Kibra by-elections Eliud Owalo is seen in a video that was posted online on Tuesday, October 1, hurling insults at DP William Ruto and Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga.
Owalo who was previously a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was responding to allegations that he was intending to quit the race and back Mariga.
The ANC candidate stated that with his level of education, he was not the man to follow Mariga whom he described as a tout.
"Others have started spreading rumours all over the place that Owalo is quitting the race to support Mariga, how can an educated man like me follow a manamba (tout)," Owalo stated.
He then turned his focus on the DP in a scathing attack, announcing that he would never follow a someone who had been accused of corruption.
"I previously followed ODM leader Raila Odinga as I believed in his commitment to fighting corruption and for good governance, now I'm with Musalia Mudavadi as I believe in his commitment to helping the people. I can never ruin my reputation by following a thief.
"There is no day you'll ever hear that Owalo has followed Ruto," he added.
The ANC candidate went on further to denigrate Mariga by likening him to a puppy on Ruto's leash.
Owalo further stated that he did not need any financial assistance as he had enough money which he was willing to share with the residence of Kibra.
He also confirmed that there was no chance he was quitting the race halfway as he intended to be on the ballot on November 4, the day of the by-election.
