Kinoti Makes Sweeping Changes at DCI Headquarters

The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, on Tuesday, October 1, made sweeping changes cutting across top leadership at the institution's headquarters along Kiambu Road in Nairobi.

The Standard reported that Kinoti appointed Danson Diru as the head of operations at the institution.

The news outlet further indicated that Diru had swapped positions with the incoming planning section boss Samuel Nyabengi.

Other changes at the institution include Johna Kirui who was transferred to Embu in County Criminal Investigations Officer’s office.

George Kisaka, the outgoing Machakos County head, was moved to DCI headquarters to head the library section.

Kinoti also made changes in the DCI workforce as a whole including the promotion of some 95 DCI officers from the inspector to chief inspector.

The team had been under training at Kiganjo for the last couple of months in preparation for the promotion.

This comes days after Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai ordered the transfer of 47 officers from Machakos traffic department.

The IG resorted to the move after two officers, while manning a checkpoint in Wamunyu - along the Machakos-Kitui Road, stopped a taxi IG Mutyambai had hired as he made his way to his rural home.

One of the officers then started to harass the cab driver, prompting  Mutyambai to intervene.

However, the second officer quickly closed in on Mutyambai and ordered him to keep quiet and mind his business, or they'd arrest him.

The two junior officers failed to recognize their commander, as he was dressed in civilian clothes.
