Threat to Raila's Wife That Made Him Run to Uhuru - Mudavadi

Amani National Congress leader, Musalia Mudavadi exposed how Raila Odinga, Orange Democratic Movement leader ran to President Uhuru Kenyatta after his wife Ida Odinga was threatened.

According to Standard, Mudavadi alleged that the threats culminated into the handshake which was born out of blackmail.

ANC leader was speaking to Kenyans in New Jersey in the US on Tuesday, October 1 during a gathering at Muungano SDA Church.

Mudavadi revealed that foreign nations exerted pressure on the opposition leaders, their spouses, children and relatives, threatening to ban their Visas.

"That slowly Visas were being cancelled. They targetted our wives, children, and relatives.

"I want you to go home knowing that I, Musalia, do not believe in cheating you. I believe in telling you the truth. So what gave birth to a handshake is personal survival rather than patriotism" Mudavadi cried out.

In statements sent to Kenyans.co.ke newsroom, ODM's Director of Communication, Philip Etale criticised Mudavadi over his comments as Jubilee MP David Ole Sankok reiterated Mudavadi's comments.

"That's pure hogwash. Remarks made out of ignorance. Hon Musalia should sit down and wait to be told more about the handshake. Spreading lies abroad won't help," Etale ranted.

"Odinga is a strategist and I believe everything around him is done out of malice. Handshake is dead," Sankok stated.

Mudavadi's latest sentiments expose the cracks within the National Super Alliance (NASA). The top leaders, Odinga, Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka have had different opinions towards the handshake and party unity.

Mudavadi, Wetangula and Musyoka absconded the infamous Odinga swearing-in ceremony at Uhuru Park in January 2018.

The three also support different candidates for the Kibra by-election scheduled for November 7. ANC has Eliud Owalo, Ford-Kenya has Khamisi Butichi as opposed to ODM's Imran Okoth.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Mbita MP, Millicent Odhiambo, differed over the handshake after Kenyatta endorsed McDonald Mariga for Kibra. According to Owino, the handshake was under attack and he accused Kenyatta of betrayal. A perspective Odhiambo differed with.

Jubilee, however, later disclosed that Kenyatta was forced to endorse Mariga by Deputy President William Ruto, as alleged by Gender CAS, Rachael Shebesh.
