A politician who's a former ally to President Uhuru Kenyatta found himself in the crosshairs when the presidential bodyguards allegedly manhandled him during an event.
Tarayia Ole Kores, who served as the chairman of Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) before Uhuru fired him in 2017, tried to reach the head of state during the burial of Daniel Ole Muyaa on Saturday, October 5.
Sources who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, alleged that the Kajiado politician tried to make his way to the presidential tent at the burial site to greet Uhuru but the guards were on high alert and blocked him from accomplishing his mission.
"Some female mourners were caught up in the confusion and could be seen gesturing the guards that Kores is a former County council chairman. The pleas fell on dead ears," the source told this writer.
Additional reports indicate that the altercation was resolved as the president interacted with leaders and residents during the event.
Kores had a falling out with Uhuru and the Jubilee party after losing the governor primaries to Joseph Ole Lenku prior to the 2017 elections.
Uhuru appointed former Narok County Council chairman Senteu Ntoross as Kores' successor as KMC's chairman.
During the burial of the former chairman of the defunct OlKejuado County Council on Saturday, October 5, President Kenyatta called on leaders to promote peace and unity saying that is the only way Kenya can achieve its development objectives.
He stated ole Muyaa's contribution to national cohesion could be seen in the manner in which, as a Maasai community elder and opinion leader, he participated in laying the foundation for Kajiado to become a peaceful and progressive cosmopolitan county.
The President narrated how the late Ole Muyaa mentored and ushered him into elective politics saying the former civic leader was a close family friend.
“I have known him for many years as a friend and political teacher. He loved peace and unity,” President Kenyatta said as he called on leaders to emulate selfless leaders like Muyaa.
