Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga excited crowds during a political gathering when she showcased her dancing moves shaking a leg to Peleka na Rieng hit song by Gang in Muranga County on Friday 4 October.
The legislator of the Inua Mama outfit associated with Deputy President William Ruto has always stirred controversy whenever videos of her dancing go viral.
The video shared on Twitter by NTV Kenya has elicited a tirade of mixed reactions from Kenyans. In the video, Omanga, donning traditional female Kikuyu attire, dances for some seconds before instructing the deejay to stop playing the music.
In February, Omanga appeared for a midday interview at Radio Jambo hosted by Massawe Japanni. The Senator had shared a behind the scenes video of her taking to the dance floor.
She was dancing to Starehe MP's song Kigeugeu (fickle characters), which she dedicated to the former Jubilee chair, David Murathe.
In 2018 December, the youthful legislator recounted that she was doing a bedsheets retail business when Deputy President William Ruto picked her and consequently changed her life forever.
Addressing the end year party for Pitchface, a company owned by South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, Omanga recollected the events leading to her surprise job offer.
"When my appointment came, I had bought 30 bedsheets which I was going to sell.
"I was at Kings Collections shop trying to bargain with the Indian seller so that I could make some profit," she narrated.
Then came a call by former Energy Cabinet Secretary Davies Chirchir, a close ally of DP Ruto.
When she threw her hat in the ring for the Nairobi Woman Rep contest, observers complained that she was part of a trend in which many women joined politics without any substance.
And that they only rode on being a msupuu, a ‘culture’ they argued was demeaning to women and cheapening leadership to a beauty contest.
