How Kinoti Busted Identity Theft Syndicate With 40K Simcards

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday, October 7, successfully rounded up a group of identity-theft crooks.

According to their sources, the suspected criminals were holed up at some apartment in Juja town identified as Jeremy Apartments.

"Intelligence leads led the detectives to the 5th Floor of Jeremy Apartments, Hse No. 36 where four suspects; Joseph Kuria, Joyce Kagure, George Maina & Evans Getabu were arrested," DCI stated.

After a brief interrogation session, the four reportedly gave away a fifth accomplice, and the detectives sent a few units to apprehend the culprit.

"DCI proceeding to Gwa Kairo where one Loise Wanjiku was nabbed. Further Investigations Ongoing," the investigative agency posted on Twitter.

Following the arrests, DCI boss George Kinoti's officers recovered 40,000 assorted Sim Cards, several mobile phones, three laptops and lists of names with ID numbers.

DCI Kinoti also won an appeal to have three police officers detained for a period of 5 days, to enable them to carry out investigations regarding a robbery that took place in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

Police officers responding to a Ksh6 million robbery on October 4, at a hotel in the highly populated area, were surprised to find their own colleagues carrying out the crime. 

Six officers had reportedly robbed two businessmen who raised alarm and caught the attention of law enforcers near BARWQO Lodge, 8th Street 2nd Av. Eastleigh.

The four suspects were identified as Wilson Cheruiyot, Daniel Korir, Alex Kandie and Jean Baptist Esome out of the six suspects were arrested and Ksh3.5 million was recovered. The fugitives identified as police constable Mwaniki and the gang's informer escaped.
