Grammy Award winner and prolific actress Lupita Nyong'o stunned the world when she unleashed what she referred to as her alter ego named "Troublemaker" on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
In a viral video posted on her social media pages on Tuesday, October 8, the awe-inspiring actress was dared to perform a freestyle song, which drew surprised reactions from many who had never heard her rap before.
In the ensuing freestyle rap, she acknowledged pop sensation Beyonce Knowles for her role in black activism and for recognizing the need for women to feel comfortable in their bodies.
Beyonce and Jay-Z's song 'Brown Skin Girl', which was originally created as a track in the 2019 remake of the Disney record-breaking movie Lion King mused on Lupita's beauty and confidence.
"She needs an Oscar for that pretty dark skin
Pretty like Lupita when the cameras close in
Drip broke the levee when my Kellys roll in
I think tonight she might braid her braids
Melanin too dark to throw her shade
She minds her business and wines her waist
Gold like 24k, okay" the lyrics went.
Lupita also rapped about her accomplishments, which included winning the 2014 Oscar awards and also announced her upcoming children's book entitled Sulwe, which she stated would be published on October 15.
Lupita has been a big fan of hip-hop music and has often uploaded videos of herself and friends spitting bars.
She had, however, never done it on a platform as huge as The Tonight Show, which is reported to be the second-most watched live show in America.
Before 2014, Lupita Nyong'o was a little-known actress in the country and abroad, until she was nominated and won an Oscar for her role as Patsy in the movie 12 Years a Slave.
Since then, she has become one of the most sought-after actresses in the world, with many admitting that her story is indeed a big inspiration.
She is the daughter of the Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang' Nyong'o and Dorothy Nyong'o, who is the managing director of the Africa Cancer Foundation.
She is also sister to Tavia Nyong'o, a professor at New York State University, Omondi Nyong'o, a pediatric ophthalmologist in California, Kwame Nyong'o, a leading Kenyan animator, and Isis Nyong'o, named as one of the most powerful women in Africa by Forbes in 2012.
