DP Ruto's Home Stormed by Rowdy Kibra Youth

Hundreds of youth from Kibra, on Tuesday, October 8, stormed Deputy President William Ruto's Karen residence.

Initial reports claimed that the contingent from Kibra had made their way to DP Ruto's home after learning that he was to address a meeting of the Abagusii Community.

However, chaos erupted just outside Ruto's residence after the highly charged youth who were ferried by boda bodas were denied entry to the residence by police officers.

"We were invited here for a meeting but they have blocked us from entering the compound. Why don't they want us to attend the meeting?" one of the Kibra residents wondered while speaking to The Standard.

Frustrated after the lockout, the crowd turned to a fence near the DP's residence and brought it down while chanting songs and slogans praising ODM Party's Kibra by-election candidate, Imran Okoth.

The crowd demanded to be allowed in, forcing anti-riot police officers to hurriedly make their way to the area, where they hurled teargas canisters to disperse the rowdy youth.

On their end, Ruto's team of organizers claimed that the only reason they chose to close the gates, was because the meeting had already commenced and the crowd was late.

“Police closed gates immediately Ruto started addressing the congregation. Some of our supporters were still streaming in when leaders were speaking, but when Ruto rose to speak, the gates had to be closed. That is how the small team began to riot,” one of Ruto's aides disclosed.

Ruto was allegedly meeting the delegation to discuss how it could support Jubilee Party's candidate, McDonald Mariga in the November 7 by-election.
