US Ambassador Scolds Robert Alai for Disrespecting Trump

US Ambassador Kyle McCarter on Tuesday, October 8, put blogger Robert Alai on the spot after he disrespected President Donald Trump.

Taking to his Twitter, the ambassador faulted Alai over his explicit reply to the vocal president.

"Foul language and disrespect," McCarter responded to Alai's request to have him talk to the leader of the free world.

Alai had replied to Trump, who had issued scathing threats to Turkey following his surprise decision to pull US forces out of North Eastern Syria.

"As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off-limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!) They must, with Europe and others, watch over," he warned.

The blogger attacked the president with insults, calling on McCarter to contain his boss.

"Idiot! You have no guts, skills, strategy or even power to destroy Turkey. Stop scaremongering. Hey, Kyle McCarter,  your boss is being a (unwriteable). Tame him," Alai retorted.

The controversial blogger has severally been called out for using dirty language and sharing gory photos in the name of journalism.

On June 18, he was arrested after he posted disturbing photos of officers killed by an IED planted by suspected Al Shabaab militia in Wajir County.

This prompted Police Spokesman Charles Owino to issue a press release warning internet users against circulating such images, terming the act as unpatriotic and supportive of the actions of Al-Shabaab.

“The unfeeling act of posting pictures of our fallen heroes online by one blogger is very unfortunate and inhuman. This is the glorification of terror which is tantamount to supporting the same. It is also a cold-hearted display of insensitivity to families of the deceased, the National Police Service fraternity and the entire nation of Kenya,” a statement from the police read in part.

This was followed by a warning from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) which called on Alai to pull down the graphic pictures of the dead police officers.

In July 29, he was again bashed over insensitive remarks on the late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso who was ill at the time.

Alai, in a tweet, opined that the county head's illness had affected the county operations negatively.

"Governor Awiti (Homabay) and Joyce Laboso (Bomet) should leave office until they fully recover. The way they hold the respective counties hostage with their illnesses is wrong. It’s like the counties are their personal properties.

"Awiti is blind. Laboso is in ICU. The counties are really suspending everything waiting for them. Let’s be serious," he added.

His remarks elicited angry reactions from Kenyans online with many asking Alai to delete his post.
