Popular opinion leader and economist David Ndii waded into the apparent unease between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Tuesday, October 15.
Ndii, who was a close aide of ODM leader Raila Odinga, took to social media to accuse President Kenyatta and DP Ruto of being equally corrupt.
The economist was responding to KTN presenter Tony Gachoka's tweet, lamenting over rampant corruption that had characterised Jubilee Party's twin terms in power.
"Gachoka, this jazz is not flying. When it comes to living off the fat of the land, the Kenyatta clan has no rivals.
"Frankly, we would rather the unpretentious crook who shares the loot, than selfish families who steal from us, despise us, and expect to be treated like royalty," Ndii lashed out in a denigrating accusation.
Gachoka had joined millions of Kenyans in an online hashtag, #DearUhuruKenyatta, calling for the president to act swiftly over the many contentious issues trampling over Kenya's economic prospects.
"I want you to know that am tired of corruption. The country is suffocating as many in your government steal and steal millions," Gachoka had cried out.
DP Ruto had been on the spotlight over numerous and generous donations to churches, with many Kenyans questioning the source of his wealth.
Kenyatta's family was, on the other hand, accused of oppressing Kenyans by allegedly controlling vast resources in the country.
