EXCLUSIVE: Bold News Anchor Speaks on Replacing Hussein Mohamed at Citizen TV

A bold news anchor who many netizens have fronted as the heir apparent to Citizen TV's Hussein Mohamed, has broken his silence about the saga.

Several Twitter users shared video clips of the anchor, Abubakar Abdullahi Mohamed, in his element at TV47, claiming that he was best suited to replace Mohamed in the Tuesday prime time bulletin, Newsnight.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Abdullahi confirmed seeing the suggestions on social media but explained that he was still comfortable at his current station.

"My focus and loyalty as of now is at TV47," Abdullahi told this writer.

He, however, had some positive things to say about Hussein, who is set to exit the Kilimani-based station at the end of October.

He praised the celebrated anchor as a great journalist whose professionalism in the industry is unparalleled.

Several Kenyans drew comparisons between Abubakar and Hussein, arguing that they both espoused objectiveness, clarity and were dedicated to their respective jobs.

"Abu is very much objective, has clarity of thought and is dedicated to his work," stated Fatah Bakal.

"I believe this young man, Abubakar Abdullahi, is your next Hussein Mohamed. I have watched him a few times and his command of current affairs and topical matters has captivated many," posted Ahmed Mohammed.

Abubakar is a graduate of Daystar University. He previously worked at Elm TV, iTV and Standard Media Group since joining the media industry four years ago.

In a Twitter post, Hussein announced that he was taking a break from Citizen TV to concentrate on personal projects.
