CS Wamalwa Reveals Uhuru Ordered Him Out of Mashujaa Day Venue During Citizen TV Interview

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, on Tuesday, October 22, revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered him out of Mama Ngina Waterfront Park during Mashujaa Day celebrations.

While appearing on Newsnight, the CS told the show's host, Trevor Ombija, that he was asked to go to drought-stricken areas and help mitigate the situation.

Wamalwa further added that the president went as far as to order Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to provide a helicopter for his transport.

"On Mashujaa Day, when I should have been at Mama Ngina Park, the president said, 'Matiang'i, IG (Hillary Mutyambai), I want a helicopter in Marsabit tomorrow. Wamalwa, we don't need you here.

"I left Dongo Kundu, flew all the way to Marsabit. We were out there with Governor Mahmud Ali (Marsabit) airlifting food to all the affected counties," stated Wamalwa.

"After tomorrow, we are mobilising food and I am going to Wajir. We will be in Mandera all the way to Garissa and Turkana.

No effort, the president has directed, should be spared to prevent any further loss of human life. 20 lives are too many," he admitted.
