Radio Presenter's Passionate Rant Touches Murkomen's Nerve

Senate's Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen's was on Wednesday, October 23 compelled to respond to heartfelt rant from a Radio Africa presenter, Carol Radull.

Taking to social media the same day, Radull blasted the government over a predicament that the national netball team was apparently facing in South Africa.

The team which had left on October 17, to boldly fly the Kenyan flag at the Africa Cup Championship in Cape Town, was allegedly stranded at a lodging over unpaid bills - this was according to Radull who claimed to have spoken to a member of the team.

She further alleged that the team had been chased away from a hotel they were booked into in accusing the state of not settling the fee in time.

"The girls went to the tournament venue, showered in a gym and played their first game later that day on empty stomachs," she narrated.

Touched by the grievance, the senator promised the radio presenter that the matter would be looked into by the Senate and that a solution would be arrived at.

"The Senate Committee responsible for sports will investigate the matter, establish the truth and recommend appropriate action. The committee is chaired by Sakaja Johnson (Nairobi senator)," Murkomen responded on Twitter to Radull's post.

The sports reporter's lament, however, split Kenyans with some claiming that her accusations were false and that the athletes had been well-taken care of.

Immaculate Kabutha, Kenya Netball Federation president, reportedly stated that the girls had not had any issues and were shocked about the reports doing rounds, “We are at the beach enjoying ourselves, we requested to have one day to relax.”
