School Children Stuck Inside National Park

Kenya Red Cross on Friday, October 25 reported that two buses carrying school children from Blessed Allamano Primary were stuck at Tsavo East National Park.

The two buses were stuck since Thursday, October 24 because of the heavy downpour that is continuing in the country.

"We can confirm that the two buses have been stuck in the forest and that our team of volunteers is on the ground at the moment," Red Cross spokesperson Peter disclosed to Kenyans.co.ke.

Here is one of the buses that was stuck at the National park on Thursday, October 25.

Peter also affirmed that the team was working towards getting the children out of the stuck buses as they could not pull the vehicles out.

"The children have been on the buses since last night and they are hungry. Our first move is to make sure they are fed first before we work on their transportation," he narrated.

Kenya Red Cross communications director also pointed out that the team would make sure each child gets to their respective home after the rescue mission.

He also stated that the response team had special vehicles that could manoeuvre through the mud to get to the children.

Over 200 school children were finally found and rescued from the forest by the Kenya Wildlife Services and Red Cross.

This comes after the Meteorological Department warned that the country would continue to receive heavy rainfall in the coming weeks.

29 people were reported dead due to the floods that came with the heavy rainfall being witnessed in the country according to Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna.

The Meteorological Department on Wednesday, October reported that the country would continue receiving heavy rainfall.
