Two years after the fire at Moi Girls high school, a parent of one of the students recalled her daughter's final moment in the hospital which included a wish to president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Appearing on KTN News Beyond the Scars interview segment on Sunday, November 3, a parent Maryanne Mwihaki recounted the days leading up to her daughter's Bubbles demise.
During the emotional interview, Mwihaki relived the 26 days she spent with her daughter who had been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering serious burns in the inferno that claimed nine others.
She narrated that Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua visited her daughter in the hospital.
"Kinyua visited my daughter in the hospital and she all she wanted was for President Uhuru to come and visit which unfortunately never came to pass," she stated.
Getting choked up at certain times in the interview, Maryanne revealed that her daughter made a confession two days before she passed on.
"She (Bubbles) confessed that she had gone to school with crocs, shoes I had brought from Germany which she was not allowed to go to school with.
"She revealed that when the fire broke out, she wore the rubber crocs and since the floor was hot, they burnt and stuck to her feet," she stated.
Mwihaki stated that her daughter was lively days to her death and she stayed by her side.
"She had very long hair and she insisted I comb it rather than cutting it," the parent conveyed.
