Lesser-known Details of Uhuru's Daughter-in-law

President Uhuru Kenyatta's son, Jomo Kenyatta, and his wife Fiona Achola may be the most high-profile yet private couple in the country.

After the much-anticipated Kikuyu traditional wedding held at the Kenyatta's Gatundu home in 2016, the couple seemingly vanished until November 2017, when word got out that the couple had been blessed with a baby girl named Wanjiru - after the first lady, Margaret Kenyatta.

Fiona welcomed her bundle of joy, who turns 3 this year, at the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi, where an ecstatic President Uhuru reportedly took countless selfies to mark the joyous moment.

Reports claim that the grandfather showed up at the hospital minutes after the baby was born, going as far as breaking into a dance after he met her.

Jomo’s wife comes from a strong bloodline of politicians. Just like Jomo who is named after the first Kenyan President, his wife also has a famous grandfather (William Odongo Omamo) who was instrumental in the fight for Kenya’s independence.

She is the niece to Kenya's Secretary of Defence, Rachel Omamo, and is of mixed Kenyan and Ugandan heritage.

Fiona pursued her studies at the prestigious St Anne’s Diocesan College in KwaZulu Natal Midlands in South Africa.

Jomo and Fiona reportedly tied the knot back on April 8, 2018, in the most exclusive weddings ever witnessed.

According to reports by various publications such as The Standard, the invite-only event that was allegedly held at State House Nairobi, with clear instructions barring all present from accessing the venue while carrying any electronic devices that could be used to take photographs at the event.

The two lovebirds were recently spotted during Mzee Jomo Kenyatta's memorial service on August 22, 2019.
