Senator Murkomen's Crucial Advice to CJ Maraga

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday, November 4, 2019, sent a message of advice to Chief Justice David Maraga over his troubles with the Executive.

The message came moments after the CJ, in a press conference, faulted the Executive for frustrating the Judiciary.

Taking to his Twitter, the Elgeyo Marakwet senator urged Maraga to use his position and power to fight back his tormentors.

"My message to the Chief Justice David Maraga, you have teeth, bite. “A tiger does not proclaim its tigritude before it strikes. You gave your tormentors an inch they want a mile. Lead," Murkomen tweeted.

In another tweet, the senator also declared his stand, vowing to defend the Judiciary.

“All said and done I stand with the CJ and the Judiciary,” he added.

Maraga had earlier that day called a press conference to lament over a number of instances in which he claimed to have been intimidated by the Executive, despite his high rank in the government.

The CJ alleged that he was denied an official vehicle, the access to the VIP lounge at JKIA and also claimed to have been disrespected at a number of state functions.

Maraga attributed his woes to the government’s intention to take control of the Judiciary.

The chief justice, however, declared that he would not be cowed by the onslaught directed towards him and the Judiciary.
