CS Matiang'i's Office Disposes Of 8 Vehicles at Ksh20K Each

The Ministry of Interior led by Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, announced plans to dispose of a number of vehicles at a paltry Ksh20,000.

According to an advert carried in the local dailies on Tuesday, November 5, the ministry informed that it was scheduled to auction the vehicles on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. 

The highest-priced vehicle in the roster is a GKL 506 Flat IVECO lorry whose cost has been pegged at Ksh650,000.

M/S Taifa auctioneers was the firm tasked with overseeing the operation.

"The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of the National Government (APS) in conjunction with the appointed auctioneers, M/S Taifa Auctioneers shall sell by public auction all the under listed boarded vehicles at the respective stations and specified dates and times," read the advertisement in part.

The eight vehicles going for Ksh 20,000 and less include three Landrover 110 Defenders, three Landrover 110 TDI, a GKA 505A Mazda Bustler 130 and a GKA277B Hyundai Saloon.

The ministry further advised Kenyans on ways to find a document detailing the vehicles and their intended auction and are expected to pay a non-refundable fee of Ksh500.

"The document containing detailed information may be obtained from procurement office, Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Administration Police Service, Jogoo House “A”, Room 153 on normal working days (8.00am – 5.00pm) from 5th November 2019, upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Ksh 500. Payment shall be made in cash at the Administration Police Service cash office at Jogoo house A.

"All interested bidders may view the vehicles at the respective stations from Tuesday 5th November 2019 up to Wednesday 20th November 2019 during normal working hours to verify all the details for themselves as these are neither warranted by the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government (APS) nor the appointed auctioneer," read the statement in part.

"Interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable deposit of Ksh. 10,000/= for all motor vehicles during the normal working hours at the Administration Police Service cash office. Bidders are required to obtain a bidding number after payment of the deposit, which will also serve as an entry pass to the auction yard," advised the advertisement.
