Citizen TV presenter and anchor Waihiga Mwaura on Tuesday evening officially took over News Night, formerly hosted by Hussein Mohamed.
His wife, Joyce Omondi a Switch TV show host, took to her Instagram and showered her spouse with praise as he took on the new show.
The proud wife who shared a video of the show's teaser could not hold her excitement as she proclaimed blessings on Waihiga.
"It's amazing what God can do when a man surrenders his life to Him. Shine on; I'm so proud of you," she posted.
This was hours before Waihiga hosted the acting Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani.
Waihiga replaced Hussein who hosted his last show on Tuesday, October 29 in an emotional send-off after 10 years of broadcasting at the station.
In their search for a new host, Citizen TV settled on Waihiga, who had come a long way to be considered as a viable replacement for the former news anchor.
"He is a journalist of impeccable professional standards and a diligent scribe. He is also engaging, persistent and firm," a promo video shared by the broadcaster stated.
In 2018, Waihiga won the prestigious BBC Komla Dumor Award, becoming only the fourth recipient in its history.
In addition to the award, Mwaura has been instrumental in a number of hard-hitting investigating features that have landed a number of individuals on the wrong side of the law.
