DPP Haji Drops Charges Against Two in Kimwarer and Arror Dam Scandals

Two officers accused alongside former Treasury CS Henry Rotich can now take a sigh of relief after the prosecution dropped graft charges against them.

Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji made the decision on Thursday, November 7, when Rotich and his former Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge took fresh pleas over the charges against them.

While speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Haji explained that the suspects, whose names were not revealed, had been turned into state witnesses. 

 

The accused are facing 24 charges, among them abuse of office and conspiracy to defraud the government.

Thugge, on the other hand, was charged with five counts of abuse of office while Rotich was charged with two counts of abuse of office.

Others accused alongside Rotich are David Kimosop, Kennedy Nyachiro, Jackson Kinyanjui, Titus Muriithi, Paulo Porcelli, CMC Di Ravenna- Itinera JV and CMC Di Ravenna- Itinera JV Kenya Branch.

The 7 were accused of jointly conspiring to defraud the government of Ksh27,740,760,550 between December 17, 2014, and September 27, 2018.
