Kalonzo Hangs Raila Out to Dry

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday, November 7, 2019, completely distanced himself from his ODM Party Raila Odinga.

The former vice president, in a statement shared by his party, stated that he did not support any of the Kibra by-election candidates.

The statement was in response to a circular making rounds on social media which claimed that Kalonzo had thrown his weight behind ODM.

"Kindly note that Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya (WDM-K) Party leader, H.E Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka did/has not declared support for any of the 24 Kibra by-election candidates," part of the communication read.

Wiper Party also revealed that the former VP had distanced himself from Jubilee's candidate in the Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga.

"Wiper Democratic Movement is not supporting Jubilee nor Mariga. NASA affiliates like ODM, ANC, and FORD-K all have fielded candidates, and the least Wiper can do is to rally support behind the strongest NASA candidate in this by-election," a circular disowned by Wiper Party claimed.

The document declared to be fake also alleged that Kalonzo defended Raila over remarks he made on Sunday, November 3, at Kibra.

Raila's observation about the Kamba community had received a lot of backlash from a section of leaders who termed the former premier's statement as abusive.

"My brother Raila Odinga did not insult anyone. I have watched the clip a thousand times and this is what Raila said..." read part of the falsified document.
