How Ruto Fell Into His Own Trap Unknowingly - ODM

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Sunday, November 10, made a statement regarding the Kibra and Ganda by-elections.

Through their Director of Campaigns, Junet Mohammed and Chairman George Aladwa, the party stated that Deputy President William Ruto had built a trap against himself, vowing to use the polls to teach the ODM party and it’s leader Raila Odinga, a lesson.

"In a bid to realise his wish, Ruto made sure Ganda by-elections not only turned violent and chaotic but also ended with the fatal shooting of one resident," an excerpt of the statement read.

The statement went ahead and alleged that the DP used the same tools of trade that is; voter bribery, fear-mongering, lies, anger and violence in the Kibra by-elections.

"Ruto has not acknowledged the violence and death his team caused in Ganda or the chaos and voter bribery his people were captured participating in Kibra.

"Instead, in his trademark hypocrisy, Ruto has spent the days after the polls venting his frustrations on ODM, Raila Odinga and choosing to condemn violence and bribery where they never existed while ignoring it where they did in plain sight," read the statement.

The party thanked residents in both Ganda and Kibra for not indulging in violence during the by-elections.

"As a party, we thank our fellow citizens for the choices they made in this by-elections. We thank party supporters for rejecting Ruto’s money and for voting with the interest of the nation in mind. We thank our volunteer vote protectors who did everything to nab Rutos schemes and goons who included people who should otherwise be honourable leaders," read the statement.

Further, the party blamed the DP's allies for the allies in both Kibra and Ganda and demanded an apology from him.

"We owe him no apology. We have no sympathy for him. Instead, Ruto owes the people of Ganda and Kibra apologies," the party concluded.
