It is believed that blood is thicker than water but if that of Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange is anything to go by, his bloodline might be the most powerful yet.
Kenyans.co.ke has learnt that three cousins of the boisterous media personality are holding some of the biggest offices on the land including the presidency.
The three include President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange and Attorney General Paul Kariuki Kihara.
President Uhuru Kenyatta
This one needs no introduction, I mean, he is the chief of the defence forces.
The late minister Mbiyu Koinange, who is Jeff Koinange's uncle, was Jomo Kenyatta’s brother-in-law and confidant, who also became the first Kenyan to attain university education.
He made the breakthrough after his father got tipped off a Scottish teacher about America having cheap, but good preparatory schools.
Jeff's father, Fredrick Mbiyu Koinange, was the first African Kenyan to open a car dealership in 1948 and Kenya's first indigenous petrol station in 1966, the same year he passed on.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has had that job for 7 years now since being elected into the office in 2013.
Attorney General Paul Kihara Kariuki
Another of Jeff's cousin, Paul Kihara, holds one of the most powerful offices in Kenya, the office of the attorney general.
The office is tasked with the formulation of legal policy and ensuring proper administration of Kenya's legal system including professional legal education.
Jeff Koinage's aunt, Lilian Wairimu Koinange, is the mother of the Attorney General Kihara and was married to Anglican Bishop Obadiah Kariuki. Obadiah was the first African bishop of the Mt Kenya Diocese.
Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange
In a 2013 social media commentary, Jeff acknowledged that Paul Koinange, who is the MP National Assembly for Kiambaa Constituency, is his cousin.
He was responding to a question from a fan who noticed the resemblance.
"Jeff Koinange, what is the link between you and Paul Koinange the MP-elect Kiambaa. Kufanana nayo (You look a like)," the Twitter user posed.
