Unusual Photo of Raila With DPP Haji Sparks Debate

A photo of the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga taken on Wednesday, November 13, has raised queries regarding the former PM's role in government.

The two were pictured at the JKIA VIP Lounge alongside visiting dignitaries from Qatar.

One of the Qataris was Haji's counterpart, Ali bin Fetais Al Marri, who jetted into the country for a special tour.

Kenyans took to social media to question Raila's presence in the photo.

"Baba literally calls the shots in Kenya," city lawyer Ahmednasir captioned the image.

Others stated that the PM and Haji were working together on a case to bring corrupt officials to book.

"Something is cooking soon people will cry like babies," Vincent Aruba suggested on Facebook.

However, speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, DPP Haji rubbished the claims, going on to add that he was free to interact with anyone.

"This is nonsense, am I not allowed to meet Kenyans I am ready to work with all people regardless of their political affiliations," he stated.

Raila's role in the government following the March 9, 2019 handshake has been the subject of debate.

In several instances, Odinga has issued directives to government officials despite being the opposition chief.

This was after he commanded that dredging works in the area be halted as they interfered with the rescue operations that were underway at the time.

Back on August 7, Raila elicited varying reactions after the former premier shared a series of photos on his social media platform with Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs CS Prof Margaret Kobia at his Capitol Hill offices.

“Hosted Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs CS Prof Margaret Kobia who briefed me on the preparations being undertaken for the upcoming International Youth Day,” Raila captioned the photos.

The former PM has also inspected several government projects such as the Galana Model Farm as well as the soon the be launched Port of Kisumu.
