Why Uhuru Kept Mt Kenya Leaders Waiting For Hours

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday, November 14, called Mt Kenya leaders for a meeting at State Sagana Lodge in Nyeri.

The meeting, which was meant to begin at 9 a.m., was delayed after the president arrived two and a half hours late.

Meru Senator Mithika Linturi expressed his dissatisfaction with the president's lateness because all leaders had already convened.

"The president called the meeting yesterday and stated that it would start at 9 a.m. It is now 11 a.m. and various political leaders have already arrived but he is yet to come," he earlier complained.

The politicians were required to rise early to attend the event slated for mid-morning. Upon arrival, they would get their attendance cards at the State Lodge gate upon presenting their IDs and phone numbers.

The president and First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta, had earlier on Friday attended the African Philanthropy Forum at Strathmore University Business School possibly delaying his expected arrival time at the party meeting.

The forum, whose theme was 'Accelerating Youth Employment in Africa' was meant to discuss entrepreneurship as the solution for Africa's youth unemployment problem.

"As leaders, we need to empower the youth for them to effectively play their part. We must equip them with proper education and tools for them to be able to compete on the global front," he stated in his speech.
