KCPE 2019 Top Student Speaks Out [VIDEO]

On Monday, November 18, Andy Michael Munyiri of Damacrest Academy in Thogoto emerged the top candidate in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

In the results announced by Education CS George Magoha, Munyiri topped the country having scored 440 marks. 

Speaking to journalists in Nyeri, the elated student, disclosed that he didn't expect to be the first in the country.

"I wasn't sure what I'd get. I received the results in my grandfather's house in Nyeri and when the CS mentioned my name I was very excited," he stated.

He credited his teachers and family for his success in the national examinations. 

"I give credit to my teachers because they prepared us for the exams and I thank God. Support from my family encouraged me to continue working hard in class," he added.

Munyiri conveyed his future aspirations, "I'd like to be an automotive engineer dealing in cars especially car engineering.

He further revealed that his parents gave him the motivation to perform exemplary.

"They work hard to support the family. I give thanks to both of them, I celebrate them most," he stated.
