Precious Talent School Principal Slapped With Heavy Charges

The police on Thursday, November 21 charged the headteacher of Precious Talent School, which collapsed on September 23, 2019. 

According to reports by NTV on November 21, 2019, Freshia Wambui Mwangi was charged alongside six others with eight counts of murder as well as neglect of official duty.

This comes exactly five weeks after Freshia's husband, Moses Wainaina, the school's proprietor was charged with 8 counts of manslaughter.

The six-county officers charged alongside the headteacher were the Director Planning, Compliance and Enforcement, Jasper Ndeke Shadrack, the Dagoretti Director of Planning, Compliance and Enforcement Sylvia Mwikali Nthanga, Quality Assurance and Standards Officer Florence Wangari Hungi, Dagoretti Education Officer, Elijah Isaboke Okindo, Dagoretti Head of Public health James Mwaura Mwangi, Ngando of Public Health Officer, Selina Leparie.

The seven who were charged before Kibera Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani denied the charges.

They were however released on a Ksh 500,000 bond each as they await the consolidation of the case with the school owner on December 5. 

The case comes after a classroom in the school collapsed on September 23 killing 8 pupils and injuring 64 others on Monday, September 23.

During the announcement of the KCPE results on Monday, November 18, three of the pupils from Precious talent scored over 400 marks.

Grace Achieng Lwoka, Nicole Sangwera Sianyo, and Martin Mwangi Yiminyi scored 408, 405 and 402 marks respectively.

The three pupils were among candidates who were transferred to Ngong Forest Primary School, where they sat their papers.
