Boniface Mwangi Decries Poor State of JKIA and Kenyans Agree

On Sunday, December 1, human activist Boniface Mwangi took to twitter to bash those who were responsible for the construction of the JKIA's new terminus.

On his post, he complained that the new wing was poorly designed and those who were awarded the tender ripped off Kenyan taxpayers' money.

“Whoever designed and those who built Jomo Kenyatta International Airport's "new wing" deserve to be prosecuted and jailed” part of his post read.

Construction of the terminus was constructed after a fire broke out inside the main terminal building on August 1, 2013. The fire completely destroyed the arrival unit.

Travellers using A tiny Lavatory in JKIA

JKIA is one of the busiest airports in Kenya and is used by 7 million passengers every year.

Many travellers have complained about the poor state of the airport. The most common concern is the poor state lavatories and congested waiting bays.

In the video, an angry Boniface walks through the parking lot showing the state of disrepair it has fallen into. The parking lot is flooded and commuter in a wheelchair can be is seen struggling to access the facility.

Other Kenyans who have used the airport also shared their experiences and echoed his sentiments for justice. This includes Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

"I usually do not agree with Boniface’s activist theatrics but this time I am with him 100%. What a shame - this “modern” airport is not value for money.."  Alfred Mutua's post read.

“Kenya Airports needs to be called out, where did the millions go, we deserve better for our taxes. @KenyaAirports . @DCI_Kenya” Mwirigi Boss posted.

Comments on Twitter

“I agree totally.JKIA is like a market place and when it rains it is worse. Wish Kenya could borrow from our neighbour Tanzania-Julius Nyerere International Airport” Soni Mwangi responded.
