Two Die After Trucks Collide Head-On Along Nairobi - Mombasa Highway

Two lorries collided at the Loitoktok Junction on the Nairobi - Mombasa Highway, near Emali in Makueni County on the morning of December 11, 2019, killing two and leaving two other victims nursing serious injuries.

Makueni County Commander, Joseph Naipeny told Kenyans.co.ke that the collision occurred at around 5 am, when the driver of a truck heading towards Mombasa miscalculated an overtaking attempt.

The driver had not noticed another truck approaching and the two lorries collided. 

Two people lost their lives in the early morning incident. - The driver of the truck travelling to Nairobi and a conductor of the lorry going in the opposite direction. 

The county commander informed that the two bodies and casualties were rushed to Kilome Nursing Home.

Traffic is under control on the highway and police have cleared the scene.

He also urged motorists to be extra careful when overtaking and observe traffic rules while on the roads, especially during the festive season.
