Babu Owino's Deal With Sonko in Limbo After Court Drama

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino on Wednesday, December 11, pointed fingers at the arrest of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko for the failed commencement of the Fedha- Nyayo Estate Gate B Road construction.

Babu was speaking on Milele FM's breakfast show with Alex Mwakideu and Jalang'o when he made the claims.

The ODM legislator revealed that he had conferred with Interior CS Fred Matiang'i over the poor state of the roads leading to the constituency's Fedha, Nyayo, and Tassia estates.

"I went to chief minister Matiang'i who agreed the road would be constructed. I went to Director General KURA Eng Kinoti, he agreed to have the road constructed, and to Governor Sonko who assured me the construction of the road this week," Babu stated on December 6, 2019.

"Now what saddens me is that construction was to start this week, and the governor was arrested this week. So my constituency cannot move forward because the governor who agreed to the construction of the road has been arrested," he added.

With Jalang'o highlighting the calls by members of the public for Babu to deliver good roads in the constituency, the legislator was quick to explain that he had accomplished a huge part of his manifesto.

"I was elected MP of the year because of the services I have made available to my constituents," Babu spoke.

"A total of 21 roads, both tarmac, and murram roads have been constructed in Embakasi East. To students, we are giving bursaries, a secondary school is coming to Donholm and a primary school in Tassia. I have accomplished 90 per cent of my duties to the people," the legislator informed.

Babu threw his weight behind Governor Sonko, insisting that his acquittance would mean good to him as a friend and to Embakasi East constituents.
