5 Students Who Fulfilled Uhuru's Wish in KCSE 2019

Education Cabinet Secretary, Professor George Magoha, on Wednesday, December 18, read the names of 5 students who fulfilled President Uhuru Kenyatta's wish to see low performing KCPE students shining four years later in their KCSE exams.

The CS scorned parents who did not believe in their children and went on to push them to repeat Class 8 after they underperformed.

He recalled with regret how two students who scored 195 marks and 320 marks respectively, committed suicide after being pressured by their parents.

"We analysed these students and they are the heroes of today. Our analysis showed us that a scorer of as little as 177 marks did so well and that is the president's wish," Magoha stated.

Kenyatta also lauded the students and schools which were the most improved.

“My government will continue to ensure our children get quality education regardless of their location.

"Today we have seen that students who scored less than 200 marks at KCPE have posted excellent results. It is all about giving a chance to our children and availing the necessary resources” the President noted after he was presented with the results at State House Nairobi before Magoha read them.

According to the results, the following students were among the most improved from their entry behaviour after the 2015 KCPE results.

1. Kinyua Milka Wanjiru scored 179 marks in the 2015 KCPE, went to Gathara Secondary School where she scored a B-

2. Munyoki Mwikali scored 199 marks in the 2015 KCPE, went to Mama Maria Secondary School where she scored a B-

3. Sharon Chepkoech scored 183 marks in the 2015 KCPE, went to Zaire Secondary School, scoring a C+

4. Joseph Mwangi scored 193 marks in the 2015 KCPE, went to Mukui Secondary School, where he scored a C+

5.Mureti Timothy scored 194 marks in the 2015 KCPE, went to Kirindara Mixed Secondary School where he scored a C+

"We just sampled a few. There are many more," Magoha added.

As has often been witnessed, top scorers in KCPE hardly make it to the top 10 in KCSE which was replicated in the 2019 KCSE results as the 2015 top 5 pupils all missed out of the top 10.

1. Aggrey Anyinya - 449

2. Wilson Muraga -  446

3. Timby Marren -   446

4. Felistas Osebe - 445

5. Naomi Gakoi – 442

In the 2019 KCSE exams, 125,746 candidates scored C+ and above, 627 scored grade A.

To access their results, candidates will be required to send an SMS message to 20076 with the candidate's index number followed by the acronym KCSE (in capital letters).
