DP Ruto Outspends Uhuru, Splashes Ksh1.1 Million on Chicken [VIDEO]

Deputy President William Ruto, on Thursday, December 19, presided over the second edition of the chicken auction at Kambi Kuku, Jua Kali, Uasin Gishu County.

The sale started off at Ksh800 per chicken but went as high as Ksh1,000 depending on the financial capability of the purchaser as well as DP Ruto's exceptional skills at striking a bargain.

He spent a whooping Ksh1.1 million during the open-air sale, which was Ksh100,000 more than his boss - President Uhuru Kenyatta who had sent him with Ksh1 million to secure himself some chicken as well.

The famous Inua Mama group were also among the big spenders, dishing out Ksh800,000, with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko splashing Ksh500,000.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi assisted the DP in conducting the auction, and the jovial Ruto quickly cornered him into buying chicken worth Ksh400,000.

Other notable mentions included Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro who bought chicken worth 96K, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika Ksh200,000 Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Ksh200,000 and Majority Leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale who spent Ksh200,000 as well.

The event was aimed at encouraging small-scale chicken farmers to tap into modern chicken rearing methods.

Kambi Kuku is a makeshift marketplace built around the bumps of the Eldoret-Malava road. This is where William Ruto spent his youthful days selling chicken to motorists.

The lively deputy president was able to raise millions of shillings at the end of the auction.
