EXCLUSIVE: Waititu Breaks Silence After Being Impeached

Embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu spoke out immediately after he was impeached, heaping the blame on his deputy James Nyoro.

While speaking to Kenyans.co,ke on phone on Thursday, December 19, 2019, Waititu argued that the Kiambu MCAs did not meet the quorum to impeach him.

He also lamented over the entire process, stating that it was conducted under controversial terms.

"They did not meet the threshold. It is all fixed and I will not let them have their way. If you saw what was happening, you understand that it is pure lies.

"It was orchestrated by my deputy James Nyoro and my opponents and I will face them in court," Waititu affirmed.

63 MCAs voted in support of the motion tabled by Ndenderu MCA Solomon Kinuthia who, among other issues, accused the embattled county boss of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

They further accused him of contravening the public procurement and disposal act by allegedly influencing the award of lucrative tenders to companies associated with his immediate family and close relatives.

However, Waititu's allies came out strongly to defend him, reiterating his stance that the impeachment was improperly conducted.

"The Speaker falsified the information. Only 57 were in the house at the time they were impeaching the governor. Three MCAs were in Dubai, 30 were in Nakuru and one was chased out of the house.

"We will issue a press conference by the end of today," Kiambu Sports CEC Karungo wa Thangwa informed Kenyans.co.ke.
